277 people participated in the first edition of Sumitt 

The event was held on March 26 and 27, at the UIDE facilities in Quito.

Summitt

The first edition of Sumitt , the event of innovation, technological transfer and intellectual property, brought together 277 participants in two days of exchange and networking . The event organized by the International University of Ecuador - UIDE and CEDIA , consolidated in a single space key initiatives such as intellectual property week, the Innovation Week, the National Fair of Inventions and Trendlab.

With the participation of 244 face -to -face assistants of 55 institutions and 33 connected virtually through the Venue platform, Sumitt became the platform to generate synergy between academy, productive sector and public entities, offering conferences, conversations and networking spaces focused on innovation, technological transfer and intellectual property. 

The National Inventions Fair  

The Sumitt also awarded the winners of the National Inventions Fair, the most relevant event of the country in applied intellectual property. This year, the best inventions and its protagonists were: 

  • Better academic invention: Particular Technical University of Loja, with the invention of photocatizing element for fluid decontamination. 
  • Better innovative invention: San Francisco de Quito University, for its development HomeS/Prohealth: Method for generating a solution of subcellular cells and bodies for quantification in microgotas. 
  • Better academic inventor: Frank Alexis. 
  • Best Academic Manager: Carolina del Rocío Montero Calderón. 
  • Outstanding academic institution: San Francisco de Quito University, for its commitment to the record of inventions and the impulse to technological transfer in Ecuador. 

Open Innovation Club 

Within the framework of the event, the open innovation club presented its first challenge, guided to cybersecurity. The call, promoted by CEDIA , sought innovative solutions in this field, and the prize was awarded to Cristian Rodríguez and Pablo Ramón, students of the Private Technical University of Loja, for their proposal Development of the Cybersecurity Collaboration System for the Educational Community . 

Release of strategic programs 

Sumitt also served as a platform for the launch of initiatives that promise to transform the innovation ecosystem in the country: 

One hundred platform: a digital technology transfer ecosystem that will facilitate the connection between universities and companies for the application of scientific and technological developments in the market. 

Connect Magazine: The 17 Sustainable Mobility edition was presented : Transportation and Urban Planning. The magazine is dedicated entirely to sustainable mobility, addressing technological innovations to public policies and success cases in Ecuador and the region. 

With this first edition, Sumitt is consolidated as a reference in promoting innovation in Ecuador, opening new opportunities for research, technological development and intellectual property.
