Third edition of Intellectual Property Week

This year's theme was "Intellectual Property and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future 2022"

CEDIA as it does every year, joins the global celebration of World Intellectual Property Day. This event provides an exceptional opportunity for those interested in intellectual property (IP) worldwide to come together.

This year's theme is "Intellectual Property and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future 2022." As part of this celebration, we have prepared a comprehensive program with renowned national and international speakers, aimed at fostering a culture of registering and protecting R&D&I results. Based on this premise, CEDIA creates and promotes spaces for innovation, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing, which are fundamental pillars of our operations.

In this context, the Innovation and Technology Transfer area has developed a series of programs with the aim of enhancing the Knowledge Management capabilities of CEDIAmember institutions, with a view to the efficient transfer of research results, through the financing of registrations in any category of Intellectual Property, whether for obtaining Industrial Property rights or Copyright.

Respect for authorship and the registration of results will be priority issues for our organization, as well as the ongoing support for knowledge transfer and the creation of spaces that promote a culture of innovation.

Following the execution of this national event, we can mention that we had important strategic allies such as: The Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja – UTPL and the Servicio Nacional de Derechos Intellectuals – SENADI, additionally:

This year, there were 10 keynote lectures.
• A total of 625 participants attended the various events of Intellectual Property Week
. • 57 applications were submitted to the National Invention Fair, of which 50 inventions from different institutions were accepted
. • A total of 104 inventors participated nationwide, 78 of whom were male and 26 female.
• 13 young inventors participated in the young inventors category.

The award categories this year were:
• Best Academic Invention
• Best Innovative Invention

Based on these indicators, we can conclude that the third edition of Intellectual Property Week has been a complete success, thanks to the active participation and the growing awareness of the importance of Intellectual Property in Ecuadorian academia and the productive sector.

We would like to thank SENADI and UTPL for their great contribution and management for the development of this event, as well as every person who made its execution possible. We look forward to seeing you at the 4th edition to be held in 2023.
