From Quito to Utrecht, international cooperation is consolidating itself as the key to facing the new digital challenges of the academic sector.
In a context where digital threats are evolving rapidly, collaboration between institutions is becoming an indispensable strategy. Along these lines, CEDIA participated in two key events within the cybersecurity ecosystem: the Face of Security 2026, organized by ASICI Ecuador Chapter, and the GÉANT Security Days 2026, held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
During these meetings, the Corporation's representative, Jorge Merchán, presented the initiative “DALIA: The Collaborative Force that Protects the Academic Sector (AI+IS),” a proposal that focuses on scalable and innovative models to strengthen cyber resilience in higher education institutions. The initiative integrates artificial intelligence and information security as pillars for anticipating risks, optimizing incident response, and building safer digital environments.
Beyond the technical presentations, the spaces served as a platform for knowledge exchange and the identification of best practices in cybersecurity. The discussions revolved around the need to move from isolated approaches to collaborative models, where information, tools, and capabilities are shared strategically among institutions and countries.
The value of this participation was also reflected in the strengthening of ties both nationally and internationally. Meetings, panels, and networking opportunities opened the door to new joint initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of digital transformation in a coordinated manner.
From Ecuador, CEDIA continues to promote a vision in which collaboration is not just a principle, but a concrete tool to build a safer, more connected and future-ready academic ecosystem.
