Advanced Numerical Methods Applied in Engineering

Status: Completed

General Objective: Train teachers and researchers from participating Higher Education Institutions in
order to provide different numerical methods to be implemented in applications in different areas of Engineering, namely: Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, among others.

Specific goal:

  • Familiarize teachers and researchers with advanced numerical methods and their use in different engineering applications.
  • Learn to choose the most appropriate numerical method to numerically solve a system of linear equations, a system of nonlinear equations, a differential equation, or fit a set of data.
  • Understand the theoretical and practical foundations of the numerical methods studied.
  • Acquire the necessary knowledge in order to describe, propose and analyze some applications of scientific computing in Engineering and transmit this knowledge to students of Higher Education Institutions.
  • Recognize the essential characteristics of the numerical methods studied through the resolution of practical problems and the use of specialized scientific computing software.
