Awards ceremony for the “Circular Challenges” project call

15 winning teams were recognized for their outstanding proposals

On Thursday, July 28th of this year, the awards ceremony for the multilateral project "Circular Challenges," which was launched last March, was held in Auditorium 2 of UDLAPARK, located in the Metropolitan District of Quito. The event was attended by representatives from the three co-organizing organizations: the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia ( CEDIA, the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), and the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries (MPCEIP).

Representatives from these three institutions were responsible for awarding prizes of recognition to the best initiatives that participated in this first national competition of sustainable projects.

Circular Challenges is the first innovation initiative dedicated to the Circular Economy. It has partnered with 36 media partners, enabling the initiative to reach a national audience and attract over 245 participants. This initiative promotes change in production and consumption patterns, safeguarding and promoting the responsible use of non-renewable natural resources.

Representatives of the recognized projects are also receiving, from the organizers, weeks of incubation, funding links, connections with the productive sector, support for prototype development, training for accessing funds, among other rewards that will allow them to successfully materialize their project

The event was attended by approximately 120 people from various academic, public, private and NGO organizations, as well as the 15 winning teams from the four sub-components of the Circular Challenges initiative
