It's a cybersecurity benefit that uses a public IP address to be the target of a cyberattack. This service is preventative, as it allows for the analysis of potential threats and aims to strengthen the security of institutions to prevent actual attacks.
How does it work?
A honeypot is designed to attract attacks like a honeypot attracts bees (potential attackers), in order to analyze which port they attack, how they work, and the tools the attackers use.
Benefits:
- It prevents a real cyberattack, because it allows you to analyze the procedures and techniques used by the attackers.
- Generates statistics, develops policies or improvement actions to strengthen the security systems of the members.
