A series of activities are planned within the agenda of the Copernicus Programme in Latin America
The Copernicus program offers unprecedented volumes of Earth observation data that are freely accessible. The big data collected by the Sentinel missions amounts to more than 16 TB per day. This data can be used for a wide range of value-added applications and derived services. In November 2021, a technical dialogue on security issues was held, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union Delegation.
During this dialogue, access to the Copernicus satellite network garnered significant interest and was established as a priority area for monitoring. In this context, the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia CEDIA) extended an invitation to institutions carrying out activities aligned with the Copernicus project. Accordingly, the first meeting to introduce the program was held on July 14th.
