The two organizations have worked for years developing strategies to strengthen research in the country.
Within the framework of the collaboration between the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia - CEDIA and the Research Data Alliance - RDA, a key event was held with the participation of Hilary Hanahoe, general secretary of the RDA. Hanahoe's visit was intended to share her experiences and offer recommendations on regional adoption of RDA standards and practices in research data management, as well as improving efficiency in scientific research in Ecuador.
The event, which took place in person and virtually, was an opportunity for attendees to delve into the importance of research data management and learn about CEDIA 's Research Lab platform. This platform offers a suite of valuable tools for the research data lifecycle, from collection and analysis to data preservation and sharing.
The day was attended by authorities from important government entities such as the Higher Education Quality Assurance Council (CACES), the Higher Education Council (CES) and the National Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation ( SENESCYT). Vice-rectors and research directors from CEDIA member universities also attended, who showed great interest in the proposals and solutions presented.
Hanahoe highlighted the relevance of adopting international standards in research data management to ensure data quality and interoperability at a global level. He stressed that the implementation of good practices in data management not only improves research efficiency, but also facilitates international collaboration and access to scientific resources in a more agile and effective way.
Likewise, the CEDIA Research Lab was presented to the research community. This platform is a fundamental tool for Ecuadorian researchers, providing support at every stage of their work with data and promoting a culture of open and collaborative data management.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of CEDIA and RDA to strengthening scientific research in Ecuador, promoting the use of cutting-edge technologies and standards that contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation in the country.
