The two organizations have worked for years on developing strategies to strengthen research in the country.
Within the framework of the collaboration between the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia (CEDIA and the Research Data Alliance (RDA), a key event was held with the participation of Hilary Hanahoe, Secretary General of the RDA. Hanahoe's visit aimed to share her experiences and offer recommendations on the regional adoption of RDA standards and practices in research data management, as well as to improve the efficiency of scientific research in Ecuador.
The event, which was held both in person and virtually, provided an opportunity for attendees to delve deeper into the importance of research data management and to learn about CEDIA's Research Lab platform. This platform offers a suite of valuable tools for the research data lifecycle, from collection and analysis to data preservation and sharing.
The event was attended by authorities from key government entities such as the Council for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CACES), the Council for Higher Education (CES), and the National Secretariat for Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (SENESCYT). Vice-rectors and research directors from CEDIAmember universities also attended and showed great interest in the proposals and solutions presented.
Hanahoe emphasized the importance of adopting international standards in research data management to ensure data quality and interoperability globally. She stressed that implementing best practices in data management not only improves research efficiency but also facilitates international collaboration and more agile and effective access to scientific resources.
Additionally, CEDIA 's Research Lab was presented to the research community. This platform is a fundamental tool for Ecuadorian researchers, providing support at every stage of their work with data and promoting an open and collaborative data management culture.
The event reaffirmed CEDIA and RDA's commitment to strengthening scientific research in Ecuador, promoting the use of cutting-edge technologies and standards that contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation in the country.
