CEDIA and the UPS PI

The Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS), in collaboration with CEDIA and speakers from OLARTE MOURE, key players in the field of Intellectual Property, organized a training and capacity-building event for its faculty and researchers at its campuses in Quito, Guayaquil, and Cuenca. The objective of this activity was to strengthen participants' knowledge of relevant topics such as copyright, software, trade secrets, trademarks, and patents, fostering a culture of protecting and utilizing intellectual property in the academic and research spheres.

During the training, the following topics were covered in detail:

Copyright: the ethical and legal use of protected works in the academic and research context.

Software: strategies for the protection and marketing of computer developments and their licensing.

Trade secrets: the importance of protecting confidential information and its role in innovation and competitiveness.

Trademarks and patents: how to protect inventions and corporate identity within a legal framework that promotes technological development.

This event reflects UPS's commitment to the ongoing professional development of its academic community, promoting responsible research and knowledge transfer. The training provided faculty and researchers with the necessary tools to effectively manage intellectual property in their projects, fostering innovation that contributes to the country's economic and social development.

With this initiative, CEDIA and UPS reaffirm their role as a key player in promoting intellectual property in Ecuador, in line with international standards.
