CEDIA ceremony CEDIA 2024, an event that recognizes individuals and institutions making a difference in the fields of science, technology, and innovation in Ecuador. This year, the creation of a new model for the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystem was highlighted, the result of a collective process that reinforces CEDIA as a key driver of the country's development.
This model responds to current demands for innovation and growth, offering infrastructure and services to generate knowledge and technology. The event highlighted not only individual achievements but also the positive impact of collaboration within the network of member institutions.
The winners of the CEDIA Awards 2024
National R&D&I Project Competition: This newly created category celebrates university research in key areas. The winning projects in each subcategory were:
Research and Development: COENCA project, for its commitment to the community and the use of new technologies.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship: StartLABS – DIGITAL MANUFACTURING, from the Salesian Polytechnic University.
Digital Transformation: a project of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja and Cafrilosa, which optimizes the management of production processes.
Sustainability: EC-WATER, from the Higher Polytechnic School of the Coast, in collaboration with the University of Ghent.
Linkage: project of the Indoamerica University to increase the autonomy of people with motor disabilities.
Researcher of the year: the recognition went to Lourdes Magdalena Orejuela, from the San Francisco de Quito University, for her leadership and contributions to science.
Researcher of the year: Frank Alexis, also from the University of San Francisco de Quito, was awarded for his impact on scientific research.
Impact on Innovation in the STI Ecosystem: San Francisco de Quito University stood out for its work in technology transfer and applied research.
Impact on Research in the STI Ecosystem: The Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja was awarded for its significant contributions to scientific research.
Impact on Academia in the STI Ecosystem: The National Polytechnic School received this award for its efforts in strengthening the academic environment.
Impact on Technology in the STI Ecosystem: The Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador was recognized for its work in developing innovative technological solutions.
Ambassador CEDIA: Alejandro Quinteros, from the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation, was awarded for his selfless promotion of CEDIA.
Outstanding Internal Project 2024: the SOC Security Certification project was selected for its excellence within the organization.
Outstanding Contributor 2024: the award went to Gustavo Patiño, from the Connect area, for his contribution to the growth of CEDIA.
