CEDIA co-organized the LATAM Open Science Forum

The forum  emphasized the relevance of open science not only as a scientific tool, but as an engine of social change.

LATAM Open Science Forum

CEDIA co-organized the LATAM Open Science Forum, a regional event that was held in person and that aligned its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UNESCO Recommendations on Open Science and the principles of Open Government. The meeting brought together researchers, scientists, academics, students and representatives of public, private and social sector institutions, with a common purpose: to promote collaboration and the exchange of ideas around open science in Latin America.

The LATAM Forum was conceived not only as a space to celebrate achievements and recognize the most outstanding projects in the field of open science, but also as a platform for dialogue about the challenges and opportunities that this approach presents in the region. Among the topics addressed, the importance of open science for scientific, technological and social development stood out, as well as its role in inclusion, equity and social innovation, in coherence with the SDGs.

CEDIA had a prominent participation in the forum, contributing with four key presentations: "Crisis of scientific reproducibility"; «Importance of Scientific Data Management and Technological Infrastructure – Research Lab»; «Multihelice Innovation Committee (COMINN): intersectoral collaboration for Territorial Development»; and finally, "Model for the construction of public Open Science strategies", a proposal for the design of public policies that promote the adoption of open science practices in the region.

The forum emphasized the relevance of open science not only as a scientific tool, but as an engine of social change. By creating spaces for collaboration between researchers and actors from different sectors, new strategic alliances were promoted and the progress that Latin America is making in this field was made visible.
