This achievement highlights the professional commitment to educational innovation and the generation of useful knowledge
A team of collaborators from CEDIA participated in the EMOOCs 2025 Conference – Shaping Sustainable Lifelong Learning for All in the Era of AI, one of the most important events in Europe dedicated to massive open online courses (MOOCs) and digital education. This year, the summit was held in Paris and brought together academics, educational institutions, technology platforms, and decision-makers in the field of education.
CEDIA was selected to present the study “AI-generated avatars in MOOCs: A comparative analysis of financial viability and perceived satisfaction compared to traditional videos” in a Lightning Talk format, a space that challenges presenters to share key ideas concisely and dynamically. The virtual presentation took place on Monday, June 30th at 9:00 am.
The research, conducted by Juan Luis Orellana, Francisco Álvarez, Gisselle Soto, Gabriela Valarezo, Javier Valdiviezo, and Jorge Bermeo, analyzes the use of AI-generated avatars as an alternative to traditional educational videos in MOOCs. The results reveal that students experience similar levels of satisfaction with both formats, but that avatars represent a more cost-effective and sustainable option for digital content production.
's commitment CEDIA to educational innovation and the generation of knowledge useful for addressing the challenges of open learning in the age of artificial intelligence. The full study is available on Zenodo: here.
