Xavier Tintin completed a university internship at CEDIA and for two months developed innovative ideas that contributed to the work of the Corporation. His internship proposal consisted of creating micro services for each of the CEDIA member institutions. Idea that was executed with the direction and contribution of the Technical Area of the Corporation.

Thanks to this experience and his dedication, Xavier achieved two things:

  1. Get an internship in the CERN openlab summer program.
  2. Become a mentor of the Corporation.

The first achievement was obtained by meeting a series of requirements, including a letter of recommendation from CEDIA . CERN openlab is a unique public-private partnership, through which CERN collaborates with leading technology companies and other research organizations. Among these companies are: Intel, Oracle, Micron, Google, among others.

CERN is considered the birthplace of the World Wide Web. The laboratory hosts innovative experiments and is at the heart of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG).

The CERN 2023 summer program received applications from 1,880 candidates. 30 students were chosen to work on quantum computing, machine learning and other ICT projects. One of them was Xavier Tintin, 23 years old and an eighth semester Computer Science student at the National Polytechnic School, and the only Latin American selected.

For Xavier, the internships at CEDIA allowed him to adapt to the work dynamics of CERN. “A space where everyone obviously collaborates and given that the specific branch of development in which I was involved was similar to the development area that I did at CEDIA , it had a contribution of knowledge during the course of this internship,” Xavier explained.

Upon his return and thanks to this experience. Xavier became one of the CEDIA mentors, to provide support to researchers who apply for the Connect Funds.

These achievements drive CEDIA to continue receiving students from member universities that are transforming the country.
