The aim of the event was to think about the university of the 21st century from the perspective of sustainability, technology and international cooperation.
On November 13 and 14, 2025, the Manuel Félix López Higher Polytechnic Agricultural School of Manabí hosted the 14th International Event “The University in the 21st Century: Green, Intelligent and International”, a meeting that brought together more than 120 participants to reflect on the challenges and transformations of higher education in Latin America.
The event was structured around three strategic axes that permeate the university debate today: environmental sustainability and ecological management (green); innovation, educational technologies and digital transformation, with emphasis on the agricultural sector (smart); and academic cooperation, global networks and internationalization processes (international).
In this academic dialogue forum, CEDIA participated through two panelists. Gabriela Valarezo, a specialist in Knowledge Management, participated in the Digital Transformation in Agriculture panel, where she contributed a perspective focused on innovation and technology transfer, based on the findings of the CONNECT 18 report on precision agriculture.
For his part, Diego Quisi, Artificial Intelligence Manager at CEDIA, was part of the panel corresponding to the intelligent axis, sharing the institutional experience in the use of technological solutions applied to university learning environments, as well as the challenges that higher education faces in contexts of rapid digital transformation.
The meeting highlighted the need to integrate sustainability, technology, and internationalization as pillars for building more resilient, inclusive universities that are better connected to the region's social, productive, and environmental challenges. In this regard, the participation of stakeholders from the academic ecosystem reaffirms the importance of strengthening exchange platforms that foster innovation and regional cooperation.
