My work focuses on the study of next-generation optical access networks. Within this field, I have made significant scientific contributions in recent years. In particular, my algorithm for finding optimal topologies, Optimal Topology Search (OTS), has begun to generate considerable discussion within the scientific community.

I learned about the Divulga Ciencia program not long ago at an information forum organized by CEDIA. I then reviewed the program details on CEDIA 's website and contacted their research department to get my questions answered. It has been a very quick and efficient process thanks to the excellent support and dedication of the people who manage it.

I submitted a funding proposal for my participation in the renowned ICTON 2018 conference (indexed in ISI and SCOPUS), held from July 1st to 5th of this year in Bucharest, Romania, to present my scientific article: "Techno-economics for optimal deployment of optical fronthauling for 5G in large urban areas." This paper presents innovative research on the deployment of optical networks to support fifth-generation mobile networks.

Participating in ICTON is always a very important platform for showcasing research and for establishing contacts with people who might be interested in collaborating or supporting future work. ICTON brings together top-level researchers from around the world and provides an opportunity to learn about the latest work in various fields of optical communications research. I hope my participation will be successful and attract the attention of researchers interested in citing my work and collaborating with my research group on future projects.

An interesting aspect of research in Ecuador is that it has been making giant strides. We are just getting started, but that is precisely what is most important: having finally begun to conduct continuous and consistent research. This is evidenced by the large number of research groups with constant scientific output that already exist in the country, and many other groups that have recently been created and have begun to carry out serious scientific work.

In five years, I envision my research work (GIETEC) being more consolidated nationally, with a stronger international collaboration network and better-positioned researchers. I also foresee the first graduating class of the new Telecommunications program (which I direct) as well as several graduating classes of the new Master's program in Telematics Research (which I also direct). In five years, I see my academic work reflected in achievements of service and support for the personal and professional growth of my fellow researchers, as well as my undergraduate and graduate students.

I have known about CEDIA for several years, but it was only a year ago that I became aware of the large number of projects it supports in favor of research and higher education in the country.

The work of organizations that support research and academia, such as CEDIA, is fundamental to the country's development. It is through the evolution and improvement of education in Ecuador that we can truly overcome underdevelopment and build a prosperous and equitable society. Without the support of institutions like CEDIA the work of researchers in Ecuador would be much more difficult.

I invite all fellow researchers in Ecuador to take advantage of CEDIA 's effective programs that support research and academia. I myself have directly benefited from programs such as Divulga Ciencia, CEPRA, and CECIRA, which have allowed me to carry out activities and develop ideas and projects thanks to CEDIA 's invaluable support.
