Liquid biopsy as a possible alternative to fine needle aspiration in the diagnosis of thyroid cancer in Ecuadorian women self-identified as mestizo.

General Objective: To evaluate the use of liquid biopsy as a possible diagnostic method for thyroid cancer in Ecuadorian women who self-identify as mixed race.

Specific objectives:

  • Standardize the extraction of DN from liquid biopsy samples and tumor tissue from Ecuadorian women with thyroid cancer.
  • Identify genetic variants through next-generation sequencing from liquid biopsy and tumor tissue.
  • Classify the variants found according to their pathogenicity.
  • Compare variants obtained from liquid biopsy samples and tumor tissue.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of liquid biopsy as an alternative sample to tumor tissue.
  • Analyze the ancestral component of each individual under study.
