Obtaining Bacterial Cellulose for pharmaceutical applications.

General Objective: Develop a process to obtain bacterial cellulose for pharmaceutical applications.

Specific objectives:

  • Obtain bacterial cellulose (CB) and characterize it through physical, chemical and thermal properties.
  • Synthesize a hydrogel with bacterial cellulose (CB) and acrylamide using radical reactions and characterize it physically, chemically and thermally.
  • To evaluate the capacity of bacterial cellulose as a drug encapsulating agent.
  • Validate the production of bacterial cellulose in two types of laboratory-scale bioreactors.
