CEDIA launches the CONNECT Funds to the main academic authorities of Ecuadorian HEIs
With the aim of celebrating World Intellectual Property Day, the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia (CEDIA) and the National Intellectual Property Service (SENADI), within the framework of the events of the World Intellectual Property Organization
On January 27, the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia CEDIAlaunched the CONNECT Competitive Funds as part of the NEXT by CEDIAprogram.
The virtual event was attended by rectors, vice-rectors, technology directors, researchers, and faculty from our member institutions, who participated in the presentation of the CONNECT Funds Launch, led by our Executive Director, Juan Pablo Carvallo, PhD. Approximately 385 attendees participated in this launch event, where the new funds, updates, and improvements made to CEDIA 's competitive grant programs for 2022 were announced, along with a detailed description of their operating mechanism.
The launch of NEXT Funds by CEDIA, whose main objective is to support basic scientific research, knowledge valuation and transfer, linkage with society and internationalization, for this purpose, CEDIA has categorized the funds into three types: Knowledge Funds such as the Divulga, Avante and Ponente Funds, R&D&I Funds with 4 main trends, technological trends, territorial vocation, health or education and creative industries and finally the Transfer funds such as the 1a1 Fund, the Registra Fund and the Acelera Fund.
Additionally, as part of the launch, two experts who have worked to strengthen the culture of research and innovation with a focus on financing for STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) activities/projects participated. We were joined by César Ruiz, Executive Director of the Tecnnova UEE Corporation in Colombia, and Néstor Roca, Entrepreneurship Coordinator of APTA in Chile, who shared their knowledge and experience on financing STI activities/projects in their respective countries.
