Rio de Janeiro becomes the epicenter of technological and scientific collaboration in Latin America with the start of TICAL2024.
TICAL 2024 takes place from December 5 to 8, under the motto "Connecting knowledge: AI and data as catalysts for academic and social transformation." This event is positioned as a fundamental space to address the challenges and advances faced by the region in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), e-Health, open science, sustainability and cybersecurity.
Our Executive Director, Juan Pablo Carvallo, participated in the Sustainability and Growth Panel, along with other leaders of National Research and Education Networks in the region. Here, strategies for sustainable growth in a world in constant transformation were discussed and the development of Networks in a scenario of global transformations was discussed.
In the E-Health session, moderated by Tania Altamirano and Paulo Lopes, the role of academia in strengthening AI in health was discussed. Luis Vargas, Head of the Planning Area of CEDIA , presented the progress of the E-health by CEDIA Project, highlighting the impact of the NRENs on the formation of health competencies.
For his part, our Director of Products and Services, Carlos Guzmán, participated in the panel: Impact of AI on research, opportunity, challenges and the role of NREN. He contributed his experience in the field of research infrastructures, presenting the Research Lab platforms. In addition, in this session, the development of Open Science ecosystems and infrastructures in Latin America was discussed, a key topic to promote collaboration and open access in the region.
Finally, Flavio Rodríguez and Badi Quinteros, from the Technical Area, participated in the forum of Technology Directors of the NRENs, CLARATEC; and in the Cybersecurity Bootcamp, respectively.
