General Objective: Design, implement and evaluate a distributed cyber-physical system that allows remote monitoring in real time of a wide geographical area, using the sensors available in commercial mobile devices and the infrastructure of the CEDIA CEDIA .
Specific objectives:
- Train lead researchers and research assistants in mobile device programming technologies and distributed Web services.
- Implement local cyber-physical systems through the use of commercial mobile devices accessing at least six sensors embedded in these devices.
- Integrate the different local cyber-physical systems into a large distributed cyber-physical system through the use of Web services and synchronization techniques.
- Generate informative alerts to mobile device users from the Web services that coordinate the distributed cyber-physical system when the monitored variables fail to comply with specific conditions.
- Evaluate and analyze the distributed cyber-physical system based on performance, resource consumption and level of synchronization allowed between different mobile devices.
