The expansion provides greater capacity and availability of the Advanced Network service
As part of the annual CEDIANetwork improvement project, the expansion of metropolitan academic networks providing connectivity to the main universities and public institutions of Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Portoviejo was carried out.
This expansion strengthens the availability of the Advanced Network service by incorporating redundant links at each site and adding new locations to the existing infrastructure, which significantly increases the network's reach.
Throughout the year, institutions such as INOCAR, the Ecuadorian Navy, the University of Cuenca, the Salesian Polytechnic University, the Cordillera Institute, the Technical University of Manabí, and the San Gregorio University of Portoviejo have already benefited from this network improvement.
It is expected that new member institutions will continue to be added in the coming months, thus expanding the scope and impact of the CEDIANetwork.
Simultaneously, the connection interfaces to the equipment of member institutions were upgraded, increasing capacity from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps. This improvement allows institutions to make greater use of the service, thanks to more robust connectivity and higher speeds for data traffic.
