Study of the bioeconomic potential of the glucose syrup obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of the banana stem and leaf. A Circular Bioeconomy strategy in Ecuador

General Objective: Determine the bioeconomic potential of the glucose syrup obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of the banana stem and leaf, applying a technical and economic analysis of its processing to provide a circular bioeconomy strategy in Ecuador.

Specific objectives

  • Establish the optimal processing parameters of glucose syrup, bacterial nanocellulose and kombucha, by studying the physical-chemical properties of their inputs.
  • Synthesize pellets using bacterial nanocellulose through the mixture design methodology to determine its potential use in biodegradable packaging.
  • Design the banana waste treatment process using computer packages, to carry out the analysis of the bioeconomic potential and study of the carbon footprint, through the technical-economic and life cycle analysis of said process.
  • Establish an online training program with the necessary learning resources, for banana associations and people interested in obtaining bioproducts from banana lignocellulosic residues
