Study of the laboratory performance of filters based on lignocellulosic materials as cadmium adsorbents in soil

General Objective: Describe the main objective of your proposal, this must be achieved during the development of the project.
Identify the purpose towards which resources and efforts should be directed. It is the set of results that the project aims to achieve through actions. Study the laboratory performance of filters based on lignocellulosic materials as cadmium adsorbents in soil.

Specific objectives

  1. To evaluate the performance of six lignocellulosic wastes obtained as byproducts in agroindustries to retain cadmium dissolved in aqueous solutions of known concentration.
    • Indicator: Level of change in the concentration of cadmium in the solution of known concentration.
    • Means of verification: Results report.
    • Assumption: At least one lignocellulosic waste retains at least 60% of the cadmium dissolved in the solution of known concentration.
  2. Obtain an aqueous solution of cadmium through bioleaching of sediments contaminated with heavy metals.
    • Indicator: Level of change in cadmium concentration in the washing water after bioleaching contaminated sediments.
    • Means of verification: Results report.
    • Assumption: The sediments are contaminated with cadmium in a concentration greater than the maximum permissible limit.
  3. Evaluate the cadmium capture obtained in the filter made from the best residue after treating a contaminated sediment sample with the best leaching process.
    • Indicator: level of change in cadmium concentration in the washing water after treating a sediment contaminated by leaching after passing through a lignocellulosic material filter.
    • Means of verification: Results report.
    • Assumption: Filter prototypes adsorb cadmium by at least 60%.
