The Roger Casement Award in Human Rights was established to honor the memory of Irish human rights activist Roger Casement, who served as British Consul General to Brazil in the early 20th century and was instrumental in shedding light on abuses of human rights in the Amazon region. The Ireland Scholars Program enables early- and mid-career professionals from eligible countries, with leadership potential, to benefit from a prestigious, world-class, quality education that contributes to capacity development. It offers selected students the opportunity to undertake a fully funded one-year Master's program at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Ireland. Eligible master's programs in Ireland start in August or September each year and, depending on the programme, will last between 10 and 16 months.
