The workshop promoted the exchange of best practices and institutional leadership to address economic, reputational, and regulatory risks in digital environments.
Information management has become a strategic focus for higher education institutions. In this context, CEDIA developed the Personal Data Protection and Information Security Workshop for universities in the Central Highlands region, a forum designed to strengthen institutional capacities in the face of regulatory and risk management challenges.
The workshop was held at Indoamérica University in Ambato and was attended by 18 representatives from 11 universities, including rectors and academic authorities. The session provided an opportunity to address, from a strategic perspective, the importance of integrating personal data protection into institutional decision-making.
During the meeting, the key role of top authorities in implementing effective controls and consolidating policies that guarantee regulatory compliance was emphasized. Likewise, the need to coordinate institutional efforts to mitigate economic, reputational, and regulatory risks, which are increasingly present in complex and constantly evolving digital environments, was highlighted.
The event also facilitated the exchange of experiences and best practices among participating institutions, promoting an organizational culture focused on prevention and responsible information management. These types of initiatives allow progress toward more informed decision-making and strengthen information security capabilities at the national level.
