Zoom version 5.0 features enhanced security and new advancements.
As part of the ongoing improvement of the ZOOM platform, we are pleased to announce the activation of new 256-bit GSM AES encryption, a measure that will provide optimal protection for conversations and videos between users, effective Saturday, May 30, 2020.
After several problems arose due to the app's apparent vulnerability, its creators have decided to double the encryption from 128 bits to this new barrier and are asking all users to update to the new version of Zoom 5.0.
CEDIA has been a source of support and backing for Ecuadorian educational institutions by providing tools that promote the labor and educational environment.
Similarly, just as WhatsApp indicates that conversations are encrypted, Zoom notifies users upon starting a new chat that a green encryption shield will appear in the upper left corner of the window when the conversation is being encrypted with the new standard. This applies to "Licensed/Pro and paid" accounts, indicating to participants that they are in a secure session. Of course, this requires using the latest version of Zoom.
Additionally, we mention that the app is available for PC, web browsers, Android devices, Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, and Google Chrome.
