Zoom releases new update

The platform releases one of its most immersive features to all users.

Zoom became one of the most used tools during the lockdown for making video calls. On April 27, the most used videoconferencing platform during the lockdown presented a new tool to make work and distance learning sessions more dynamic and user-friendly.

The new update includes the option to crop participants' faces, allowing the video call platform to place them in a more "natural" environment, as if they were in a classroom or conference room.

These immersive scenes were first presented a year ago at the Zoomtopia conference, but are now being rolled out to the general public. Users of both the Free and Pro versions will be able to enjoy these digital environments, which are more realistic than traditional backgrounds, in video conferences with up to 25 participants.

The meeting hosts have complete control over choosing their preferred atmosphere and placing all their guests within these immersive scenes. From the main menu, attendees can be positioned in their chosen background.

Zoom allows you to customize these events by choosing the size in which the participants will be displayed, their placement, and even uploading your own scenes to the program if you don't find the right one among those offered by the platform.

However, users who haven't updated the software will see the traditional tiled view of the video call, while the other participants can enjoy these new digital environments. Similarly, Zoom's meeting recordings will not capture these new scenes and will only save the traditional view.
