Academia and industry, an alliance to promote the Superfood sector

A booming strategic sector, which requires the adoption of new technologies

Superfood is a term that refers to foods that offer maximum nutritional benefits with minimum calories. And these superfoods have been grown and harvested in Ecuador for decades. Quinoa, chocho, barley, pitahaya are foods that have always been on the tables of Ecuadorian homes. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the urgent need to improve the consumer's immune system, investment in the superfood sector increased during this period worldwide.

Undoubtedly, a booming strategic sector, such as superfoods, requires the adoption of new technologies. Innovating is an essential part of specialization and competitiveness; however, innovation is not directed at a single actor. Collaboration is key to sharing experiences and developing new and effective solutions that have a real impact in these areas of expertise.

And at CEDIA we are clear that this collaboration is essential for the development of this strategic sector. For this reason, we work to link academia and industry. An example of this is the agreement with the Technical University of Ambato and Lupwi Ecuador, a company that rescues ancestral and Andean superfoods to develop healthy and delicious foods that become a nutritious alternative.

We invite you to learn more about this innovative and healthy project, which focuses on the power of Andean foods.
