Cesar Guevara

Please help us with your full name and position you hold at the Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica.

My name César Byron Guevara Maldonado, I am a researcher at the MIST Mechatronics and Interactive Systems Center of the Universidad Tecnología Indoamérica, Quito.

My work focuses on the area of applied Artificial Intelligence. We are currently developing intelligent systems to improve the quality of life of hip surgery patients with a real-time rehabilitation tool. On the other hand, an application for intelligent patrolling and crime prediction for the National Police of Ecuador, in addition, development of adaptive algorithms for the detection of intruders and information leaks in computer systems.

CEDIA visited my university a few weeks ago and introduced us to this service, to apply it immediately after the talk.

The Divulga Ciencia process was totally professional, clear and very efficient. All the information to apply to the contest and the staff that solves your doubts is excellent.

In less than 20 days I had the affirmative answer from CEDIA and they supported me in all the purchase of tickets, payment of registration and lodging for the congress. Days before they supported me with the per diem to be able to go to Spain for the congress.

We present an intelligent rehabilitation motion detection algorithm using a device called Kinect for patients who have undergone hip surgery. This algorithm will help improve the health of patients and that they can have access to a physiotherapist online more cheaply.

Participation in the Cisis2018 Congress was very important and beneficial, since it was possible to establish collaboration ties with recognized universities at a European level such as the Complutense of Madrid and the University of Salamanca, etc. This has allowed us to form a joint research group to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities by applying artificial intelligence and electronics.

As an Ecuadorian I can say that we are on the ideal path to generate knowledge and solve most of the problems that afflict us. We have the capacity to go further and further in innovation and in the development of new ideas and technology, although we are still a bit far from the international scientific field. My personal objective as that of the Indoamérica Technological University is to generate a culture of research in all areas and reach our students and later the community.

In these next 5 years I see myself developing new solutions for the most vulnerable people in our society such as children and people with special abilities. And also publishing our ideas in the most important magazines in the world.

I am currently in the country for 8 months and I had only heard it twice in the CEPRA projects and in the presentation of CEDIA services at my university.

They are extremely important entities, because they allow the development of very good ideas with very noble purposes and of great impact in the country.

First of all, trust in our abilities and what is ours, that although we are small we are of great drive and infinite perseverance.
Second, that making science and scientific articles with a global impact can be achieved. Aim high and you will reach high, and that CEDIA can be that seedbed of ideas that trusts in you.

Thank you very much for your trust and the opportunity you have given me, but it will not be the last time that I will present high-impact publications without CEDIA being part of the process.
