Cesar Guevara

Please help us by providing your full name and the position you hold at Indoamerica Technological University.

My name is César Byron Guevara Maldonado, I am a researcher at the MIST Center for Mechatronics and Interactive Systems of the Indoamerica Technological University, Quito campus.

My work focuses on the area of applied Artificial Intelligence. Currently, we are developing intelligent systems to improve the quality of life for hip surgery patients with a real-time rehabilitation tool. Additionally, we are developing an application for intelligent patrolling and crime prediction for the National Police of Ecuador, as well as adaptive algorithms for intruder detection and data leaks in computer systems.

CEDIA visited my university a few weeks ago and presented this service to us, and after the talk we implemented it immediately.

The Divulga Ciencia process was completely professional, clear, and very efficient. All the information for applying to the contest and the staff who answered my questions were excellent.

In less than 20 days, I received a positive response from CEDIA , and they supported me with all the expenses, including purchasing tickets, paying the registration fee, and arranging accommodation for the conference. A few days before the conference, they also provided me with travel expenses so I could attend in Spain.

We present an intelligent motion detection algorithm for rehabilitation using a device called Kinect for patients who have undergone hip surgery. This algorithm will help improve patients' health and allow them to access online physiotherapy at a lower cost.

Participation in the Cisis2018 Congress was very important and beneficial, as it allowed us to forge collaborative relationships with renowned European universities such as Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Salamanca, among others. This has enabled us to form a joint research group to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities by applying artificial intelligence and electronics.

As an Ecuadorian, I can say that we are on the right track to generate knowledge and solve most of the problems that afflict us. We have the capacity to go ever further in innovation and in the development of new ideas and technologies, although we are still somewhat behind the international scientific community. My personal goal, as well as that of the Indoamerica Technological University, is to foster a research culture in all areas and reach our students and subsequently the wider community.

Over the next five years, I see myself developing new solutions for the most vulnerable members of our society, such as children and people with disabilities. And also publishing our ideas in the world's leading journals.

I have been in the country for 8 months now and I had only heard it twice in the CEPRA projects and in the CEDIA services presentation at my university.

They are extremely important entities because they allow the development of very good ideas with very noble purposes and a great impact on the country.

First and foremost, trust in our abilities and in what we have to offer. Even though we may be small, we possess great drive and boundless perseverance.
Second, knowing that producing scientifically impactful articles on a global scale is achievable. Aim high and you will reach high, and CEDIA can be that seedbed of ideas that believes in you.

Thank you so much for your trust and the opportunity you have given me, but this will not be the last time I present high-impact publications without CEDIA being part of the process.
