Decontamination of shrimp packaging material using ''non-thermal plasma'' technology in times of Covid-19

General Objective: To evaluate the effect of 'non-thermal plasma' treatment as a new food processing technology to reduce biological risks in shrimp and their packaging material, including the presence of viruses and virus remains.

Specific objectives

  • Characterize the operating conditions of direct 'non-thermal plasma' treatment
  • Characterize the operating conditions of the indirect 'non-thermal plasma' treatment
  • Develop an in-vitro growth technique for cell lines and cultures
  • To assess the effect of direct and indirect 'non-thermal plasma' treatment in cell cultures
  • To assess the effect of direct and indirect 'non-thermal plasma' treatment on packaging material inoculated with cell cultures
  • To evaluate the effect of direct and indirect 'non-thermal plasma' treatment on shrimp inoculated with cell cultures.
