Platform for a Virtual Laboratory for the Simulation of CNC Machine Tool Operation Processes

General Objective: Develop and implement an open source platform (open source type) for a virtual simulation laboratory in CNC machine tool operation processes and CAD-CAM integrated systems.

Specific objectives:

  • Design and program a base CAD-CAM integration interface, in open source, in which primitives will be implemented for the generation of a CNC program. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is the open source program that will be made available to Ecuadorian and global society.
  • Implement a virtual simulator that uses the CNC program to display-simulate, in a tactile system, the results of the operation process of CNC machines and tools, to facilitate training in these new manufacturing processes. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is the virtual simulator that you will find implemented in the virtual laboratories of the universities proposing this Project.
  • Install and implement a virtual simulation laboratory in CNC machine tool operation processes and CAD-CAM integrated systems, in each of the universities proposing this Project. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is the number of laboratories installed and in operation in each of the universities proposing this Project.
  • Use virtual laboratories for the training of future technicians, technologists, engineers and scientists in key challenges related to the integration of CAD-CAM technologies and the operation of CNC machines. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is that the virtual laboratories are serving as support in at least three training subjects in CNC machines and CAD-CAM integration.
  • Form a Network of New Manufacturing Technologies that allows the integration of researchers, teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students in interdisciplinary research dynamics that promote the development of critical skills, discussion and collaborative work essential in a context of transformation that points to a society of the knowledge. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is the Network of New Manufacturing Technologies formed and in operation with at least the three universities proposing this Project.
  • Disseminate research in national and international conferences, generating at least one publication in reports or indexed specialized journals. The measurable and verifiable indicator for this objective is the publication.
