Towards the circular economy: development of eco-packaging from agro-industrial waste

General Objective: Develop eco-packaging from biodegradable waste such as avocado seed and agave waste.

Specific objectives

  • Determine the yield of the extraction of starch and cellulose discarded by the agro-industry.
  • Characterize biopolymers, thermoplastic starch, cellulose nanofibers and nanocrystals using different analysis techniques.
  • To study the products obtained from the mixtures of thermoplastic starch with fibers, nanofibers and nanocrystals.
  • Determine the water vapor permeability of the films obtained from TPS and its mixtures.
  • Analyze the biodegradability of the mixtures in compost.
