The Ecuador Coalition participated in the Transform Health international meeting.
Transform Health Ecuador highlighted its commitment to universal health coverage during the Strategic Workshop & Joint Learning Forum, held in Nairobi – Kenya from April 24 to 26, 2024. This international event brought together health leaders and experts with the purpose of foster collaboration and exchange of knowledge to improve health systems and ensure their global coverage.
The forum aimed to promote a culture of collaboration and learning across Transform Health coordination functions, including national coalition coordinating partners, regional networks and the global coalition enabling function secretariat.
The specific goal was to identify opportunities for collaboration and joint learning to strengthen health programs and policies in Ecuador, as well as obtain updated information on trends and developments in health worldwide to apply them in local initiatives.
During the day, representatives of national coalitions and regional networks presented their specialized interests. CEDIA , as the coordinating axis of Transform Health Ecuador, presented its vision on research and innovation in collaboration with the academic world, addressing key issues such as equity in access to health, innovation in the provision of services and the sustainability of health systems.
Issues related to the importance of political advocacy to achieve the coalition's objectives were also addressed and strategies to obtain political support for global health data governance frameworks were discussed. In addition, strategic approaches and frameworks of regional networks were presented and the Model Law on Health Data Governance was discussed to influence national legislation and regulation.
Another relevant point of this meeting was monitoring and evaluation, as well as youth participation in health. A collective action plan was developed to achieve meaningful youth engagement with Transform Health and Young Experts: Tech for Health. The event concluded with a session to exchange experiences, learnings and commitments acquired during the forum.
The Strategic Workshop & Joint Learning Forum provided a valuable space for the exchange of information and experiences between Transform Health coordination functions. Areas for collaborative improvement were identified, concrete commitments were made to strengthen collaboration, and it was agreed to develop a joint learning strategy to promote knowledge sharing across the coalition. These commitments reflect Transform Health Ecuador's firm commitment to continuous improvement and effective collaboration in the field of global health.
