Mandatory update for platform user
The Zoom video conferencing platform and CEDIA inform the general public that, as of November 1, 2021, customers must MANDATORY update their Zoom software, because if they do not have said update, the platform WILL NOT WORK as of said date.
This action is intended to ensure that you do not have an upgrade delay of more than nine months with the current version. From then on, users will be prompted to update their software to that version. For example, if the latest version of the Zoom client was released in September 2021, customers attempting to access Zoom services with a version released before January 2021 will be prompted to upgrade to a newer version to access to the full functionality of Zoom.
Users are reminded to regularly download and update to the latest version of the Zoom software by checking for updates or by browsing: zoom.us/download in order to take advantage of all the latest security features and functionality. It is important to note that users of older versions of Zoom may be at risk of bugs and vulnerabilities that have been resolved in newer versions.
This policy will affect the following products (oldest possible version as of November 2021):
• Zoom Client: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Intune, and Blackberry (5.5.0)
• Zoom Rooms (5.5.0)
• Zoom Phone Devices (5.6.0)
• Outlook Plugin (5.5.1)
• Browser Scheduler Extensions for Chrome (1.6.3) and Firefox (2.1.13)
• VDI Client (5.5.0)
• Virtual Room Connector (4.4.6670.20201130)
• Meeting Connector (4.6.3)
• Recording Connector (3.8.41)
• Meetings SDK (5.5.0)
Note: The 9-month release window will not apply to devices running Zoom Room Controller software, such as Zoom Room Controllers and Scheduling Displays, at this time. However, Zoom reserves the right to request an update in the future.
Please note that while the minimum version of the Zoom Client software required for this program is 5.5.0, additional updates may be required outside of this release window to address additional security or compliance features. The Platform encourages its users to refer to its release notes for security enhancements included.
