Prevalence, geotyping and effects of human papillomavirus on sperm quality of men attending a fertility clinic in the city of Cenca

General Objective: Determine the prevalence, genotypes and effects of human papillomavirus on the quality of sperm in men treated in a fertility clinic and its association with alterations in semen parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation.

Specific objectives:

  • To identify the prevalence of human delmpapilomavirus (HPV) and semen characteristics in men who attend a fertility clinic in Cuenca.
  • Identify the specific HPV genotypes present in the urine and semen samples of participating men.
  • To evaluate the agreement between semen and urine samples for the molecular diagnosis of HPV.
  • To investigate the association between the presence of HPV and alterations in sperm motility, mophology, sperm concentration and sperm DNA fragmentation.
